Trauma is defined as a deeply distressing and disturbing experience. Trauma can be experienced either directly (happen to self) or indirectly (witness of others). People who have gone through a traumatic event may experience symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. These symptoms are often debilitating and have negative impact on daily life.
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a mental health condition that's triggered by a traumatic event. Symptoms may include flashbacks, nightmares and severe anxiety, as well as uncontrollable thoughts about the event.
I am a trained EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapist. EMDR is a psychotherapy approach that has been proven to be helpful for people who suffered from PTSD caused by accident, violence, abuse, physical and sexual assaults.
